Make a Table from Text & Sort It

To make a table from  a list with “separators” such as commas or tabs (below):

·        Highlight the list.
 
Click:
·       Table
·       Convert
·       Text to Table
·       Number of Columns (in this case, there are 5)
·       Separate text at (choose comma or tabs)

To sort these files:
·        Highlight table.
Click:
·        Table
·        Sort
·        Choose column you wish to sort by.  (In this case, it was Column 1.)

Make a “Watermarked” Background
·       Insert Picture from File
·       Double click on picture
 
Under Picture:
·       Click on Image Control, and choose Watermark.
·       Click on Layout and choose “Behind Text”
·       Simply copy the picture and paste it repeatedly until it appears to be like a background.  The nice part is you can vary it if you want, as I did on this page.
 
Note:  This works best if you do it AFTER you have all your text on the page.  Choosing and editing the text it is slightly complicated with multiple graphics in the background.  J  not impossible, but… 


Printing Your Contact List

How you print a category with contacts to just print email address, etc... 
 
Contacts – Print

You will see several styles –

·       Phone directory style for a phone list
·       Card Style gives you a nice listing.
·       Small Booklet will give you a little address book.
 
You can change the page settings to change margins, etc…
To change fonts and things, click on Define Styles. 

Zipping & Unzipping Files
How to take files and ZIP them.
 
To Zip several files into one:
·       Explore
·       Choose the files you wish to zip. (to choose more than one file in a row, click on the first file, hold the Shift key down, and click on the bottom file.  For various files, click on the first file, and hold the Control key down when you click on subsequent files).
·       Right click and choose “Add to Zip”
·       Name the Zip File
·       The file will then be saved in the same folder that the files came from, named lori.zip or whatever you chose to name it.
·       E-mail the file or put it on disk to get it where you want it to go.
 
What to do with the Zip file:
·       Save the zip file to your c:\ drive. 
·       Find your WinZip program on your computer at work and start it...
·       Find the *.zip file in “browse” and unzip it.  Don't change any of the default settings, etc...  Close the program. 
 
The zipped files should then be in the folder name c:\unzipped\zipfilename\
Changing Fonts in Outlook Views
To Change fonts in outlook view:
·       View
·       Current view
·       Customize current view
·       Other Settings
 
You can also do:
·       View
·       Current Views
·       Define Views
·       Choose Inbox or Sent or whatever view you want to define
·       Mdify
·       Other Settings

Installing Fonts
·       My Computer
·       Control Panel

·       Fonts

·       File
·       Install New Fonts
·       Choose the folder where fonts are stored
·       Select font or all
·       Okay
 
Fonts will install  J

Make a Full-Page Background
Turning a left-sided background (stationary-type) image into a tiled background image that covers the whole page. 
(You can only do this with .bmp files with the programs you have installed in Windows.)
 
·       Open Microsoft Paint (Start, Programs, Accessories, Paint)
·       Open the .bmp file
·       Using the rectangular “cut” toolchoose the section on the left edge.
·       Click on Edit, then Copy, the Paste
·       Drag the piece you’ve pasted evenly to the right of the original left-sided graphic. Continue this process until you have a nice and even section filled with your graphic!
